Headteacher of St Luke's appointed to new post - letter from Revd Ed Dix, Chair of Governors
Dear parents and carers,
I’m writing to you with some important news. Our headteacher Rebecca Abrahams has accepted a new role as headteacher of Manorfield Primary School and will therefore be finishing as headteacher of St Luke’s school at the end of the summer term. We will naturally be very sad to say goodbye to Rebecca, for she has been an exemplary leader within the school throughout her eight-year tenure, and she has travelled with us through what she has herself described to me as “a journey of transformation together.” It may be said that much of the work of a headteacher will not be immediately seen by most parents and carers, but you can be sure that there is not an aspect of the school that has not been positively impacted by Rebecca’s loving and thoughtful leadership.
Rebecca has, for the past three years, been providing executive leadership to both St Luke’s and Harbinger schools, and her departure will be a significant moment in the life of both schools. We remain fully committed to pursuing the enduring benefits of partnership, and the governing bodies of both schools will continue to discuss the various ways we can grow the partnership in the coming months.
There will be plenty of time between now and the end of the summer term to ensure that we celebrate Rebecca’s outstanding contribution to the life of our school community in appropriate ways. I can also assure you that Rebecca is fully focused on helping St Luke’s continue its pursuit of continual improvement right up to her last day in post. The governing body takes its responsibilities with the utmost seriousness and will use the coming weeks and months to ensure a smooth and well-planned transition to our next headteacher.
May I end by reminding us all of the wonderful promises of God found in the Bible, so that each of us can say along with the psalmist “My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:2).
This comes with my very best wishes,
Rev Ed Dix
Chair of Governors
